You feel the river in your hands, the comfort inside and beauty around... Simple in one of the best areas of Lisbon
The strategical location of this apartment, right by the Lisbon´s Cathedral, will make you enjoy the city in a few steps, as you find everything you need at door. The apartment is located in a newly refurbished and very beautifull building facing the Sé cathedral church, on the way up to the Castelo de S. Jorge hill and Alfama. At a few minutes walking distance you find the Castelo de S. Jorge, the cafeterias and terraces of Santa Luzia and Portas do Sol, Alfama, the Sé Church, the famous Praça do Comércio square and very good transport connections, including the tram 28 and underground. An ideal location.
Nearby you have various forms of traditional Portuguese commerce, and from there you can easily reach most of the popular sightseeing spots in Lisbon.
It is also a short walking distance to the subway (Rossio station), to the train station (Cais do Sodré) going to the beaches around Cascais and the station where the trains to Sintra leaves.
Less than 5 minutes from home you will find all means of transportation you need from the tram No. 15 that will take you to Belém.
There is also some public car park within a 5/8 minutes walk of the apartment.
This location has easy access to Baixa, Bairro Alto, Chiado, the Castle (S. Jorge) district and also to Alfama and to Santa Clara, where Lisbon’s flee-market takes place.
It is also close to some of the stops of the famous tram 28 (Electrico 28). This is a scenic route crossing most of the tourist neighbourhoods of the city centre. A definite must for any visitor to Lisbon.
After the great earthquake of 1755, when the center of Lisbon was destroyed, a new center was constructed, made of grid pattern “geometrical” streets. This area, situated between Praça do Comércio, Rossio and Praça da Figueira is called Baixa.
From Baixa you can easily access The nigh life district Bairro Alto and the smart Chiado, with all his theatres, museums, elegant and traditional shops, bars and restaurants.
To the other direction, going up street, you will accede Graça and Santa Clara the place where Feira da Ladra (Thief’s market ), the flea market, happens every Tuesdays and Saturdays.
Here there are several “musts” not to miss on your visit:
Panteão Nacional – Church of Santa Engrácia: When the construction began in 1682, it was planned as one of the Lisbon’s biggest churches. However, it had been long neglected and the construction was completed only in 1966! It was then that the Panteão Nacional was inaugurated. Here you will find cenotaphs of Portugal’s heroes. The interior is colossal and contains the tombs of historic and literary figures – from Vasco da Gama to Amália Rodrigues, the famous fado singer.
The convent of São Vicente de Fora: Portugal’s first king, Afonso Henriques laid the foundations of this church in order to fulfil a vow to construct Christian Houses of worship where Portuguese and European crusaders would lay to rest. Inaugurated in 1629, the church was severely damaged by the 1755 earthquake. It has been recently renovated and deserves a visit. The view from the rooftop is one of the greatest in Lisbon.
Some “Miradouros” (vantage points) with amazing views over the castle S. Jorge, the river Tejo and the city roofs: miradouro da Graça with an open-air café and Senhora do Monte 600m further on. The views are even more spectacular at sunset. Don’t miss it!

We loved to stay here!
Really beautiful, clean with everything you might need in a quiet little street but still in the centre. Perfect for us- we would love to come back :)
Great appartement! Looked in real life the same as on the pictures!
We enjoyed our stay very much. Also very helpful staff!
Host was very friendly and showed us how to go in Lissabon. Towels and equipment was present, even the heater was on when we came. Perfect.
The appartement was situated walkingdistance from center.
It was a pleasure to stay at Margaridas apartment. The apartment is fully equipped with everything I needed for my stay. The area the apartment is located at is one of my favorites. It's close to the jardim do principe real, to bairo alto as well as to the avenida liberdade. You can reach everything walking.
It was really easy and uncomplicated to arrange the check in and I was warmly welcomed by Filipe. He explained me the apartment and gave me a lot of recommendations to fully enjoy my stay. I couldn't have wished a better first meeting with a local. Thank you Filipe and Margarida!
The Appartement lies very central in barrio alto. Nice to Start going around in Lisboa. The service was good. Quick we got help with our technical problems.
The beds are comfortable.
One negativ suggestion is the bad smell in the Appartement.
The location of the apartment in Alfama, close to the Se cathedral and city center is perfect. All Lisbon regions (Alfama,Baixa, Bairro alto and Chiado) are at walking distance. In case you want to go there by public transportation you'll find tram (28E and others) and bus stop just around the corner and the metro station Terreira do Paco is at a 5 minutes walk. There's a supermarket "Pingo Doce" at approx. 10 minutes walking distance.
The sober decorated apartment has a kitchen, 2 small bedrooms, a very small living room and a bathroom.
We had to clean part of the kitchen and do the dishes before use.The kitchen gear is very basic and partly incomplete. When we arrived we found only 3 glasses (this was resolved after a call to the host). There's no electric coffee machine. Besides a dustpan with a short broom, there are no other (floor) cleaning tools like a vacuum cleaner, normal sized broom etc. So it's hard to keep it clean when you're there for more than 2 days.
The double bed in one of the bedrooms measures only 184 x 128, which is not a normal double sized bed and doesn't fit taller people. This should be mentioned on the website.
The absence of a shelf with bed light at one side of the bed in both rooms, which were there in the past according to the holes in the wall (and pictures on the website) indicate a lack of maintenance as did the broken dustbin, not functioning lock on the bathroom door, no light in the refrigerator etc.
I would not recommend this apartment for more than 4 persons.
Overall, we did enjoyed our stay and the host was very friendly, but based on the reviews, I got a slightly different impression of the apartment. With this review I want to compensate for that. I think it's quite easy to make it a more attractive apartment with only minor investments. Please do.
We got to Lisbon after staying in Porto for a few days.
We had a great time despite the terrible weather but we won't be back soon.
Filipe met us at the apartment and showed us around. He told us where we could find a super market and a few grocery stores, then he recommended a nice bar to hang out in the evening, which we enjoyed alot and won't give away it's name online. It's an amazing bar and until now free of drooling drunk tourists unlike so many other places.. lol
He didn't want to go through "the map" and give tons of recommendations and instead offered to be "available" around the clock for us to write/call him if we were interested in a place and wouldn't know if and how we should go there.
We were fine with that and he answered on our first request pretty quickly, not so much when we contacted him on the second day (for a restaurant-recommendation) and didn't receive any answer for the rest of our stay in Lisbon.. In that case, we'd prefer a map with some marks of recommendations instead of empty words.
The apartment's location is absolutely perfect, few minutes of walking to Bairro Alto (bars and restaurants, nightlife-hotspot) and still pretty calm at night. The apartment looks great at first glance, lots of space and great ambiance.
We only gave 4 stars, because it was dirty!
We had to clean some of the kitchen before we found it save to use any of it and also had to do the dishes before using them - however, we didn't clean out the cupboards which would've taken forever and definitely needs to be done asap.
The floor was sticky so that we couldn't bare walking around in socks (only bringing in more dirt I guess) and the bedsheets had some ugly stains on them.
The bathroom was okay, but the toilet paper sits on the floor and the toilet brush is standing in a deep puddle of god-knows-how-old toilet water (I didn't dare to clean that one!).
The shower head is leaky and spills water all around and it's holder sits loosely on the wall..
this might not be much reason to criticize for many as I know lots of people who live in such "conditions" and seem perfectly fine with that.
For me it's just unacceptable to not get a place cleaned up before offering it to someone.
Absolutely perfect! The stay in this appt. was as great as expected. Our host Tiago was very helpful and the appt. was very nice and clean. We had a great vacation in Lisboa!
Our hosts were very welcoming and caring! The flat itself offered an amazing view of the city!
We really enjoyed our time in Lisbon. The studio was great and in a central location. Everything looked exactly like the pictures; you will not be disappointed.
We were nicely welcomed by Tiago who gave us tips and a map of the city which was a great help.
The tram is literally 10s away from the front door and it takes you to the best places in Lisbon.
I would recommend this place to anyone and would happily book it again.
It's a bit small for 3 people but just perfect for 2 people.
It's a bit noisy in the morning but you should not waste your time sleeping in Lisbon there is so much to discover!
