Aigina port at 3 km
Aegina is close to the port of Pireaus on the mainland. Visitors must arrive by boat but the journey is short (between 40 and 80 minutes depending on which boat) and an enjoyable part of your holiday experience. Enter into the bustling port of Aegina town and drink in the view: a moon crescent harbour with fishing boats, fruit filled caiques, and glamorous yachts jostling for position.
Those visitors who are excited by learning about history will not be disappointed by what Aegina has to offer. Indeed there are many excellent books available and a separate section on this website. The island has a special place in Greek mythology and history. The myth has it that the island tookits name from the most beautiful of the twenty daughters of Asopos, the river god, who eloped with Zeus to the then deserted island. In historical terms, there is evidence that the island was inhabited from as early as 3500 B.C. The island enjoyed strong economic and social growth between around 900 B.C. and 480 B.C., including minting the first coins anywhere in Greece during the 7th. Century B.C. In more modern times, Aegina was briefly the first "capital" of modern Greece from 1827 – 1829.

Very nice appartment. Well situated. great view. Everything was also very well organised. Great trip we had.
Original apartment, cosy, large,
located in the city center, very close to animated places, ok to visit the city by foot
Clean, well equipped, washing machine, dishwashing...
It's a loft, so if you need intimity, it's quite difficult, room are only separated with trick drapes.
Indeed a charming and fairly spacious appartement. Also, the large balcony - which is not on the pictures - is wonderful. Since the apt. is on the 6th floor you get much sun there, from early in the morning. We had breakfast on the terrace every day!
We didn't meet George personally, but he had arranged for someone else to hand over the keys and was always available by mail or phone. When we missed a blanket and had a problem with the internet connection, it was solved within a day.
The apartment looks exactly like the photos show. In general it was very tidy, clean and modernly refurbished, although some devices were out of order (oven, half cooker...). We also missed a microwave.
The blinds kept the apartment completely dark at night and only a small and discontinuous sound from the fridge could annoy people with sleep problems. But it was not a problem at all for my fiancée and me.
The only inconvenience we found was the location. The apartment is a bit far from the city centre (45 minutes by walking) and the closest metro station is 10 minutes by walking.
All in all, I would recommend this apartment. However, if I would gone back to Athens I'd try to stay in an apartment better located.
The apartment is in a convenient central location and George was helpful in arranging transfers which was much appreciated. First impressions wasn't so good though, apartment is not much bigger than a hotel room and not as "High-End" as I imagined, bed hadn't been made (we had to make it), linen for bed wrong size with pillow sheets missing, cleaning clothes left on floor, some power points weren't working or absent where expected (e.g. kitchen) and the inside door handle would come off in your hand if not careful. However, Athens hotels are expensive so the apartment represented reasonable value, and we may have been the exception re our issues.
The apartment was very comfortable. It was very accessible and in a great location. I would stay here again with ought a doubt. The only negative comment I could make on the apartment is that the hot water tank was not sufficient for one to wash before running out of hot water. All went well until the morning we had to leave. We were not told that the front building door is bolted at night and therefore when we left to get our taxi at 7am we were locked in. Thankfully the taxi driver helped us by ringing everyones door bell until someone came to help. Otherwise we would have lost our plane. The emergency door leading to the basement was also bolted. Shudder to think what would happen if there was an emergency evacuation scenario. So before vacating the apartment for good please remember to check that the front building door is not bolted shut.
The hotel was great! The area is a bit noisy, but you get used to it, the crowd that had begun at dawn. The beach was close but it was pretty crowded and messy so I had to go out every day can get away from beaches to search. The city, the bazaar is 10 minutes away by car. It was nice but a shame that such garbage, this was a bit dirty there would be observed.
The accommodation, receiving the keys was discussed according to each, it was absolutely fine !!!
The apartment is very good, near the metro that takes you to the center of Athens ... There is a bakery, pharmacy, cafes and a supermarket well next, George proved to be a good person and the next door neighbor has treated us very well and willing any kind of help.
We stayed at this beautiful apartment and we definitely would repeat. We didnt meet George, but we knew Panos, a great host. It was really beautiful and near Everything (shopping streets, bus stops, taxis, and walking it's 4 km away from the tourist part. Wifi was a little bit bad but we cant find something bad on this apartment. Thank you Panos! ;)
